North Catasauqua residents who are spending some time this summer sorting through cast-off possessions may want to create a “Save for Recycling Day” pile in their garage or basement.
The borough council has booked an electronics recycling day for Oct. 22.
Responsible Recycling Services has been reserved for that date to collect computers, electronics and appliances for proper disposal.
This event is open to North Catasauqua residents only.
In addition to computers and most of their accessories, items that may be dropped off include audio visual equipment, phones, DVD players, VCRs, gaming systems and stereos and speakers.
There is no cost to recycle these items.
Other items that qualify for free recycling include microwave ovens and other small appliances, metal items, exercise equipment, car batteries, bed frames, filing cabinets and rain spouting.
There are fees for recycling older computer CRT and LCD monitors, as well as for TVs and floor copiers, ranging from $8-20. Broken TVs are not accepted.
Fees for air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, floor freezers and ranges are $20-30.
Credit cards are not accepted. Residents must pay fees by check or with cash.
