Coplay: Pool will offer free swim Aug. 27, 28
Parkway Pool will remain open through Aug. 28. Borough officials said the pool will have adequate lifeguards, which is mandated by the state.
There is a free swim noon-6 p.m. Aug. 27 and 28 during the Community Days celebration at the Parkway.

With schools opening Aug. 29, children will gather at bus stops across the borough. There will not be any school crossing guards as this has been the case for years.

Eight youngsters will return to school with new backpacks filled with supplies in an annual project sponsored by Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association. The recipients are from families who are clients of the association’s food bank.
The program has been scaled back from former years when the project was town-wide.

Exchange Club Foundation of Western Lehigh is sponsoring the ninth annual sporting clays fundraiser for the prevention of child abuse Sept. 16 at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays complex, 2750 Limestone St., Coplay.
Registration begins 8 a.m.
There is a fee for an individual shooter, which includes 100 clays, shells, food, prizes and awards. Squads of five shooters also are welcome to participate for a fee.
The event will take place rain or shine.
