April L. Sweeney, 37, of Whitehall, died Aug. 14, 2016, with her family and companion, Brett Olewine, by her side at Temple University Hospital. Born in Wurzburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Joseph G. Geake and his fiance Rose Orefield, of Quakertown and Terri L. (Bruch), and her husband Michael Kernechel, of Alburtis.

She worked in loss prevention for Sears, Kmart and Weis stores in the Lehigh Valley.

She enjoyed riding and training horses as well as steel shooting.

She is survived by her parents; son, Ryan and his father Dave Sweeney; maternal grandparents, Mitzi Geese and Arthur Bruch; brothers, Jeremy J., of Green Lane and Michael T. Kernechel, of Alburtis.

Contributions may be made payable to Joseph Geake to be used towards Ryan’s future, c/o the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17, at the Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville, 18031. Calling will begin 6:30 p.m.
