Lafayette
The following students were named to the 2016 spring semester dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement at Lafayette College, Easton.
To qualify for dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.60 semester grade point average on a scale of 4.0.
Allentown: Kelly Carpency, Allentown Central Catholic High School, Travis Shoemaker, William Allen High School, and Carly Trachtman and David Zahn, both Parkland High School graduates;
New Tripoli: Noah Breininger, Northwestern Lehigh High School; and
Orefield: Kari Schultheis, Northwestern Lehigh High School.
In addition, the following students graduated May 21.

New Hampshire
Lauren Gardner of Allentown earned highest honors for the spring semester of the 2015-16 academic year at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H.
Students named to the dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance.
Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0.
Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.
New England
Ryan J. Noon of Kutztown is among more than 175 students who presented their freshman innovation project at Western New England University College of Engineering’s 2016 Emerging Expo.
Noon’s project, “Medtree: Universal Access System for Hospitals,” won first place honors at this year’s event.
Freshman product innovation projects allow students to gain experience and knowledge at an early stage of their education with innovation and design of a new product.
It helps students to better understand what they can expect during the next few years as an engineering student at Western New England University and gives them a chance to showcase their talents at the very beginning of their educational journey.
Lafayette
Lafayette College recently honored students for academic excellence at its annual All-College Honors Convocation.
Awards and prizes are presented to outstanding students in all four of Lafayette’s academic divisions - engineering, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.
Area students who received awards are:
Noah Breininger of New Tripoli, Northwestern Lehigh High School, Class of 2016, was the recipient of the Robert F. Hunsicker Educational Prize.
The Robert F. Hunsicker Educational Prize is awarded to a student who has done meritorious work in the area of small-business studies.
Carly Trachtman of Allentown, Parkland High School, Class of 2016, was the recipient of the Department of Economics Award for Scholastic Excellence and the Lafayette Alumni of the Lehigh Valley Scholarship Award.
The Department of Economics Award for Scholastic Excellence is awarded to a student for outstanding academic performance in economics and business and for leadership in departmental activities; and the Lafayette Alumni of the Lehigh Valley Scholarship Award is awarded annually to Lafayette seniors either residing in the greater Lehigh Valley, or who graduated from a greater Lehigh Valley high school, who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
Trachtman also traveled to the University of North Carolina, Ashville to present undergraduate research in the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, April 7-9.
She was among 17 students from Lafayette College selected to participate in the NCUR, which had approximately 2,000 other undergraduates travel from 250 different colleges and universities to present research findings.
Penn College
Michael Frederick Fedele II of Orefield a emergency medical services major was presented a Paramedic Humanitarian Award at the Pennsylvania College of Technology’s summer commencement ceremony Aug. 6 at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport.
The Paramedic Humanitarian Award is presented to the graduate of the paramedic program who has best demonstrated the traits and behaviors of a humanitarian, as determined by a vote of staff, faculty and preceptors.
