William Fred Hayes, 96, of Allentown, formerly of Macungie, died Aug. 2, 2016, at Westminster Village, Allentown. He was the husband of Emily J. (Cowan) Hayes. Born in Washington, Pa., he was the son of the late Frederick R. and Harriet A. (Levers) Hayes.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Allentown.

He served his country in the Navy.

He worked as a maintenance worker at Universal Cyclops Steel Mill, Bridgeville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, BethAnn, of Venetia, Sherry June Hutchinson, of Dade City, Fla.; son, Gregory W., of Macungie; two grandchildren, Christine Ann Hayes-Kish and Daniel Gregory; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Kish, Jared Kish, Nicholas, William and Jack. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruth, Dorothy, Harriet and Freda.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 19 in The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown. Arrangements were made by the Boyko Funeral Home, Allentown.
