A mass of twinkling lights illumine the expanse of trees

Children scurrying

to catch these “lights”

in jars with

perforated lids

Further examination reveals

the “lights” are bugs

with fluorescent

on/off signals

Close inspection

removes some of the aura the magnificence of this spectacular sight

The sparkling

illumination of mid-summer nights

caused us to feel awe ... a bit of mystery

We might even call it Christmas in July
