Fire chiefs provide reports
New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ reported to Lynn Township supervisors that volunteer firefighters, as of July 10, answered 91 calls, and hose testing at the station was completed.
Lynnport Fire Company Chief Clark Mantz also reported, during the board’s July meeting, the fire station parking lot has been oiled and chipped. He said firefighters responded to six calls in June and three during the first half of July.
The township road crew was busy cutting grass, weed whacking, repairing equipment and replacing signs.
Roadmaster Bruce Raber told supervisors road signs and barricades placed on Frey Road for the construction were stolen.
Two bids were received for several projects on the maintenance building.
Scott Smith was the low bidder on the four projects at $14,000.
In other matters, the board voted to give the annual donations to certain community organizations.
New Tripoli and Lynnport fire companies will each receive $5,000.
Northwestern Rescue Squad receives $3,000 and $5,000 was given to the Northwestern Recreation Commission.
The board gave $500 for the annual Night in the Country celebration at Northwestern Recreation Commission Community Park.
The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Aug. 20. Rain date is Aug. 21.
Weed spraying in Ontelaunee Park has been completed.
Township engineer Chris Noll will obtain costs and more information about bridge work in the park for the next meeting.
The stormwater report for the township is due by the end of September. Noll will handle this item.
A new copier was leased by the township. Lehigh Valley Business Systems will supply the machine for a cost of $122 per month. This includes a desk top copier along with a floor model.
Auditor Robert Sadler reviewed some items in the auditing report. Certain changes in procedure must be addressed prior to the next audit.
Upcoming events in Ontelaunee Park include the Scott Marshall Band 5-8 p.m. July 31; Music in the Park, from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 28; and The Large Flowerheads from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 25.
