Barnyard Roundup, the theme for VBS at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 18-22 in the church social hall.

School-age children are welcome to register. Children 3 and younger also can participate, but their parents should be in attendance.

National Night Out, a national award-winning program sponsored by Coplay Crime Watch, will be held Aug. 2 at American Club of Coplay pavilion.

Along with speakers, nonprofit organizations and law enforcement will have projects and stands. There will be a lot of activities planned for children, too.

Mark Aug. 7 on your calendar. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Fifth Street, will hold its annual homecoming picnic on the church grounds featuring home cooking and polkas.

The picnic draws a huge crowd of people returning from states all across the country for friendships to be rekindled.

The community plaza at Second and Chestnut streets has been restored after weeks of utility lines being laid. More projects are planned for the future as funding becomes available, including a permanent sign welcoming the public to Coplay, benches and perhaps a clock and decorative fountain.
