Variety of events offered for adults, kids in the community
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is having senior book club 3-4:30 p.m. July 12 to discuss the novel “Boston Girl” by Anita Diamant.
The event will be at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall Township.
Book Quest will meet 7 p.m. July 19 to discuss the novel “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson.
Toddler story time for children 18 months to 3 years will be at 11 a.m. July 11 and 18.
There will be stories, songs and games. Younger and older siblings may attend.
An adult must stay during this free event.
Join Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs and practice reading to these patient pups at Read to the Pups 6:30 p.m. on July 11 and 18.
This event is for individuals of all ages.
Da Vinci Science Center’s Grossology interactive presentation for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade 2 p.m. July 12 is based on Sylvia Branzei’s popular children’s book.
Stories in the Schools will be offered 2 p.m. July 13 at Parkway Manor Elementary, 768 Parkway Road, South Whitehall; 10 a.m. July 14 at Schnecksville Elementary, 4620 Sand Springs Road, Schnecksville; at 10 a.m. July 20 Fogelsville Elementary, 312 South Route 100, Breinigsville; and 2 p.m. on July 21 at Kratzer Elementary, 2200 Huckleberry Road, South Whitehall Township.
This interactive story time and games event is for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Children ages 5 and older, are invited to play Ninetendo games at live Pac Man 2 p.m. July 19.
Kids in sixth through 12th grade may try everything chocolate at the Crazy Chocolate Capers 2 p.m. July 15.
Summer movie night will be 7 p.m. July 20.
These events are free and will be held at the library except the senior book club and Stories in Schools.

Upper Macungie Township movies in the park series will be showing the PG movie “Hotel Transylvania” featuring the voice of Adam Sandler and Mel Brooks July 8 at Breinigsville Park 8935 Breinigsville Road, Breinigsville.
Pre-movie activities start at 7 p.m.
The township has partnered with The First Tee of the Lehigh Valley to offer junior golf lessons Mondays and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon July 18-Aug. 10 at Independence Park Community Center, 150 Independence Road, Breinigsville.
Classes will be coached by John Librick.

Kristi Tripoli, certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher, is offering free yoga classes Sundays 7-8 p.m. until July 17 in the grassy area near the basketball courts at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane, Upper Macungie Township.
Participants must bring a mat, towel or blanket.
The township is offering outdoor pickup volleyball 6-8 p.m. Sundays until Aug. 28 at Upper Macungie Park, 1625 N. Route 100, Fogelsville.
Participants must be age 14 or older to participate.

St. John’s United Church of Christ and St. John’s Lutheran will be offering joint Vacation Bible School 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 8-12 at 1027 Church St., Fogelsville.
Closing celebration and picnic will be at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 12.
The theme will be Surf Shack: Catch the Wave of God’s Amazing Love.
