Northampton police responded to these and other calls recently.
JUNE 17
Police checked on the welfare of a female in the unit block of East 21st Street.
In the 300 block of Howertown Road, police responded to an animal case for a dog in a yard.
JUNE 18
The department received a report of a male littering in the 1200 block of Canal Street.
In the 1700 block of Canal Street, an attempted vehicle theft occurred, police said. The owner witnessed two Hispanic males trying to break into his vehicle. The owner was able to take a Slim Jim-type tool from one of the suspects and used it to scratch the side of an older-model black Cadillac Escalade, which was being driven by the suspects. He also kicked the driver-side headlight of the vehicle. The driver was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He had long, curly, black hair pulled back in a ponytail.
JUNE 19
A theft from a vehicle took place in the 1600 block of Lincoln Avenue. An unlocked vehicle was entered into; some loose change may have been taken.
In the 1800 block of Lincoln Avenue, a theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred; loose change was taken.
Police received a report of a vehicle theft in the 700 block of Dewey Avenue. An unlocked vehicle was entered into, and a Vera Bradley diaper bag was taken.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female in the 1300 block of Vienna Street.
In the 2000 block of Washington Avenue, a theft from a vehicle occurred; a Coach purse was taken.
A strong-armed robbery occurred at CVS, West 21st Street. The report said a black male attempted to take a purse from a woman. The woman was knocked to the ground after a struggle but was able to hold onto her purse. The black male and a white male fled the scene toward Cementon Bridge. Officers were unable to locate the actors. The black male was described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall, having a thin build and wearing glasses. The white male was described as having curly, blonde hair and acne on his face.
JUNE 20
A hit-and-run accident occurred in the unit block of West 19th Street. The report said a legally parked car was struck, damaging the rear quarter panel. Officers located the offending vehicle.
A vehicle theft occurred in the 300 block of East Ninth Street. An unlocked vehicle was entered into, and loose change was taken.
In the 900 block of Dewey Avenue, police investigated a vehicle theft. The department said an unlocked vehicle was entered into, and a white iPod Nano and loose change were taken.
At Redner’s Quick Shoppe, West 21st Street, a male was reported shoplifting.
JUNE 23
An unwanted male was reported to police in the 2200 block of Siegfried Avenue.
JUNE 24
At St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church, 1357 Newport Ave., criminal mischief was reported. The report said the east side of the building was spray-painted with black and yellow paint.
Police received a report of a male causing a disturbance in the 1200 block of Main Street.
JUNE 25
In the 300 block of West 27th Street, criminal mischief to a legally parked vehicle was reported to the department.
A female was harassed by a male in the 1700 block of Main Street, the department reported.
Police received a parking complaint in the 1600 block of Newport Avenue. Officers investigated.
The theft of a bicycle in the 700 block of Main Street took place. The report said a silver, red and black mountain bike, with a black box containing a horn, turn signals and a flashlight mounted on it, was taken from a porch.
Officers responded twice for a report of a male causing a disturbance in the 1300 block of Stewart Street.
JUNE 26
A theft occurred in the 400 block of East Ninth Street. The report said four hanging plants were taken from a porch.
Police responded to a report of an assault in the 1200 block of Main Street. Police said a male was assaulting another male.
JUNE 28
At West 16th Street and Newport Avenue, the department received a report of a legally parked vehicle keyed on the passenger side.
JUNE 29
Officers responded to a call for a domestic disturbance between a male and female in the 1500 block of Newport Avenue.
