Joseph V. Budgy

Joseph V. Budgy, Ph.D., 85, of Upper Macungie Township, died June 30, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospice.

He was the husband of Christine E. (Rabzak) Budgy.

Born in Buck Run, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, with unit Hq Co. 1st Bn, 74th Inf.

He was discharged at Ft. Devens, Mass. as a SP3 from July 1954 to June 1956.

After being discharged, he served with the Army Reserve until 1962.

From 1959 to 1968, he was principal of Buckingham Park Elementary School, Willingboro, N.J.

From 1969 to 1970, he served as chairman for the Department of Elementary Education at Rider College and coordinator of Evaluation for the South Jersey Region Educational Improvement Center, 1968-69.

He was a professor at Kutztown University and from 1970-74, he was director of Elementary Education at Kutztown University.

He received his Ed.D. from Rutgers University in 1968, M.Ed. from Rutgers University in 1959, and Bachelor of Science degree from Kutztown State College in 1954.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Mark and wife, Kristin, and Kevin and wife, Stacey; and grandchildren Cailin, Liam, Patrick, Maura, Maggie, Rory and Fiona.
