Shirley M. Seidel

Shirley M. Seidel, 83, a resident of Luther Crest retirement community, South Whitehall, died June 19, 2016, with her son by her side, watching a race on television.

She and her husband James W. Seidel Jr. were married 59 years at the time of his death on March 22, 2012.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Charles K. and Laura (Frazier) Miller.

A 1950 graduate of Allentown High School, she and her late husband were couriers for E. Schneider and Sons Inc., Allentown, until retiring.

Earlier in life, she was an administrative assistant to a dean at Muhlenberg College, and a long-time manager for Park and Shop, both in Allentown.

She and many residents of Luther Crest enjoyed the time when her granddogs came to visit.

Her survivors include her son Brian Seidel and his wife, Jennifer; son-in-law David Michael, all of Allentown; nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her daughter Vicki L. Michael in 2012; sisters Zelda Timmins and Betty Miller; and brothers John and Edward Miller.

A celebration of her life will be 7 p.m. June 24 in Crest Hall at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall, where her family will continue to receive guests after her service at a reception.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to America on Wheels, 5 N. Front St., Allentown, PA 18102.

Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Whitehall.
