Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, offering VBS June 26

Once again Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will be offering its unique evening Vacation Bible School program, June 26 to July 1, which includes dinner every night.

Children from ages 3 through fifth grade are welcome to participate in this year’s program, “Cave Quest: Following Jesus the Light of the World.”

A free family dinner will be served 5-5:45 p.m. Classes are 6-8 p.m. with children grouped by grade level.

Adults who bring their children are invited to remain for their own sessions of Bible school.

Any adult may attend, even if he or she does not have children in VBS.

Topics of discussion for the adult group include: Biblical images of darkness and light and how these times influence our lives; Biblical courage; Living by faith: its challenges and pitfalls; What is love: Biblical perspectives and today’s understandings; and Power in the Bible and Today.

The church requests children’s registration by June 19.

The men’s group of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will stage its bean bag tournament 6 p.m. June 23 in the grove. The event is for all ages.

The evening begins with a picnic supper prior to the bean bag competition.

Guests are welcome to join the fun.

On June 26, Union UCC will have its worship service 10:30 a.m. in the grove. The jazz ensemble will provide musical accompaniment.

Kathy Bonsell, director of Christian Education at Neffs UCC, reports enrollment is underway for the 2016-17 school year at the pre-school.

Classes are offered for 3-, 4- and 5 year olds in a curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.

The educational program focuses on the whole child through academic, social and emotional endeavors.

The summer worship time at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laury’s Station, has moved to 9 a.m.

Although off for most of the summer, the choir will sing the first Sunday of each month at the communion services.

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet 7 p.m. June 23.
