Donald E. Litwhiler

Donald E. Litwhiler, 54, of Orefield, died May 30, 2016, in his home.

Born Sept. 22, 1961, in Philadelphia, he was the son of R. Eugene Litwhiler of Orefield and the late Leah A. (Plastow) Litwhiler.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years earning rank of sergeant.

He was an explosive detection dog handler in Baghdad, Iraq, and most recently at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.

He also worked as a law enforcement generalist for Military Professional Resources in Mosul, Iraq.

Prior to that, he was a senior officer specialist for 18 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Leavenworth, Kan.

In addition to his father, he is survived by children Derrick J. Litwhiler and Taylor A. Litwhiler, both of Leavenworth; sister Carol A., wife of Dr. Jack A. Lenhart of Orefield; nephews Todd and Ryan; and niece Chris.
