Trojan Alumni Varsity Club helps dedicate new turf field at school

When the Parkland School District dedicated its new multi-purpose, artificial turf athletic field, the Trojan Alumni Varsity Club was there to support and assist in that event.

Many school officials and local dignitaries were there, too, to celebrate this beautiful and functional new field.

According to Ron Bealer, TAVC president, the club was the highest single donor to the field’s installation with its $5,001 contribution.

According to Bealer, the district would not need to worry about overuse of the field which quickly ruined the grass and created a muddy playing surface.

And, the new artificial turf would not require the maintenance and watering real grass does.

The club supports Parkland’s athletic programs 100 percent and is pleased to financially support construction of this new field.

The organization hosts informative and fun monthly meetings, many times having Parkland’s coaches and players speaking or in attendance.

In addition to the field, TAVC gives two $2,000 college scholarships to a deserving male and female athlete each year.

They have been awarding these scholarships since 1964. The club also hosts a golf tournament.

This year’s outing will be Aug. 12 at Iron Lakes Country Club, North Whitehall.
