Board reviews two plans

The Peter Kahora subdivision, along Schochary Road, was first on the agenda for the monthly meeting of Lynn Township supervisors.

A waiver was requested on the driveway requirements of the ordinance.

Township Engineer Chris Noll noted this is not an official submission so the waiver could not be granted.

The owner of lot No. 1 was agreeable with the waiver but Supervisor Steve Feinour wanted to see a written letter from the owner of lot No. 1 and have Solicitor Marc Fisher review the request.

Fisher stated there would have to be a note on the plan.

The plan can move forward when there is documentation from the owner of lot No. 1 concerning the driveway situation.

The Wertman subdivision along Route 309 north of New Tripoli, was next.

This plan concerned subdivision of a building built in 1971, and a lot from the parent tract.

Noll advised the board the planning module was not approved and the plan could only be approved conditionally.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich made a motion to allow the plan to skip the preliminary stage and go directly to final.

The plan was then given final approval contingent upon satisfying comments in the engineers letter.

Lynnport Fire Chief Clark Mantz gave the report for his fire company. He said five calls were received in April.

Mantz also said the annual Fourth of July Jamboree is scheduled for June 25 on fire company grounds.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ gave his report on the activities at his fire company.

They have received 64 calls so far this year. The IPads have been purchased and the contract signed.

The annual Father’s Day chicken barbecue at the fire company will be 11 a.m. June 19.

Christ showed the basic concept of the new firehouse to the board.

The fire company will meet with the bank to discuss financing options. A decision will be made to sell the property in Lynnville or keep it and lease it to someone.

The recent fire study committee meeting covered the first three chapters of the study.

A request for use of the fire police at the Breinigsville Park in Upper Macungie on July 2 or 3 (rain date) was granted by supervisors.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber’s road report was presented.

Raber said a paving project at Ontelaunee Park was completed with a substantial savings.

According to Raber, the project was estimated to cost $27,000 or more but was completed for only $17,777.

Lynn Township’s portion of the oil bid (oil used in oiling and chipping) came in with 55,000 gallons at $1.410 per gallon which translates to a total cost of $77,550.

Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. was given the contract put out for bid for the four townships in the Northwestern Lehigh School District.

Robert Sadler gave the audit report.

He noted the township is being run rather well but there were a few issues that should be addressed. Thirty issues were listed.

Supervisors made a walk-through at Ontelaunee Park to see if there are any problems.

Erection of small pavilions at the dog park, new playground and pond were discussed.

The board must decide whether or not to fix the old pavilion.

Work must be done at the pond to remove the lilies. An aerator should be installed and chemicals added to kill off the plants.

Afterward, fish can be placed in the pond. Several other issues were discussed and noted.
