NOVA founder Paul Barna dies at home

Paul Barna, 79, of North Whitehall Township, died April 21, 2016, at home.

He and his wife Julia C. (Klucsarits) Barna were married 58 years.

Born in North Whitehall Township, he was the son of the late Wasyl and Mary (Kelbo) Barna.

He was a retired knitting mechanic employed in several textile mills.

Founder and past president of Ormrod Volunteer Ambulance Service, now Northern Valley Ambulance Corps (NOVA), he was a first aid, CPR and EMT instructor and the recipient of numerous service awards.

He was a lifetime member of the NOVA Auxiliary and a member of the Predator Archers Club.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Whitehall.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Barbara, wife of Michael Anglestein, Paula, wife of Timothy Bauer; sons, Michael and wife, Melissa; and Paul; 10 grandchildren; sister Paulette Bellis; and sister-in-law Anna Barna.

He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
