Northampton: Library plans May 21 yard sale

The Friends of the Northampton Area Public Library group will hold a spring yard sale 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 21. It will be held rain or shine.

Ten-foot-by-10-foot spaces, with or without tables, are available. Reserve your spot at the library.

Donations also are being accepted to be sold at the library’s yard sale table.

Hot dogs and other refreshments will be available for purchase.

The library will hold its next preschool block party 10 a.m. May 25. This free-play, hands-on learning event with blocks is for preschool children age 2 and up, accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.

Family Fun Day at the library is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon June 4. This will be the first day of sign-ups for summer reading programs for children, teens and adults. There also will be fun and activities for the family during the event.

A program on nutrition and healthy living will be presented by Dr. Kaitlyn Connors 6 p.m. July 23.

Northampton Area Historical Society will have its annual spring meeting 7 p.m. May 26 in the library of the Northampton Area High School, 1619 Laubach Ave. The speaker will be Martha Capwell Fox, archivist and museum coordinator of the National Canal Museum/Delaware and Lehigh National Corridor Inc.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.

The annual Wynnewood Estates family garage sale will be held 7 a.m.-3 p.m. May 28. Forty to 50 families will be participating.

To get there, travel east on 10th Street from Main Street. Turn left onto Atlas Lane and continue to Buckingham Drive.

The Northampton Joint Veterans will host a Memorial Day service 11 a.m. May 30 at the Veterans Plaza, 14th Street and Washington Avenue.

Members of Fred A. Snyder American Legion Post 353, Catholic War Veterans Post 454 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 will lead the service. Also participating are members of Northampton Area High School’s Big “N” Band and Gene Kutzler, bagpiper.

The eighth annual Paw Prints on the Canal will be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5 at Canal Park.

The free event is hosted by Northampton Borough and benefits its police K-9 unit. It will be held rain or shine and is open to the public.

Highlights of the day include demonstrations by Officer Buchanan and K-9 Vito; a rabies and microchipping clinic; a rescue pet parade, noon; a sharp-dressed pet talent contest, 1 p.m.; basket raffle, 3:30 p.m.; pet photos; bake sale; pony rides; pet psychic readings; and refreshments.
