Coplay: Senior citizens club sponsoring trip to ‘Jukebox Heroes Alive’

On June 10, Coplay Senior Citizens is sponsoring a trip to see “Jukebox Heroes Alive” at Hunterdon Hills Playhouse, New Jersey.

Pickups are at Weis Market on MacArthur Road in Whitehall and the AHEPA building on St. Albert Street in Allentown.

Organizers of the borough’s tire drop-off project officially report 124 tires were brought to the Bridge Street site, below the Coplay-Northampton Bridge. Lafarge Cement Company had the tires hauled to its Cementon plant for its energy program, and the tires were burned at its kilns.

May 23 is a busy evening in the borough. Scrabble night at the library is 5-7 p.m.; aerobics at the borough hall gym is 7 p.m.; and the Coplay Community Days committee meeting in the borough hall council chambers is 7 p.m.

Organizations participating in the August Community Days event are asked to send representatives to the meeting.

Coplay Fire Department will hold a coin toss 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 28 at Second and Chestnut streets.

The annual fundraiser project helps with the purchase of equipment for the volunteer fire department.

Donations are voluntarily.

The borough building on Cherry Street housing the fire department and the social hall of Commitment to Family & Community (CFC) have had new aluminum awnings installed at all entrance doors of the building.

A paint job also has been done on the fire department side, giving the place a fresh look.
