Members of the Parkland Garden Club recently traveled throughout the Parkland School District handing out tree saplings to first grade students.
During their stop at Cetronia Elementary School, saplings were made available to students in four first-grade classes and an evergreen sapling was planted at the school.
“Each April, Parkland Garden Club members meet to wrap seedlings for all of Parkland School District’s first graders,” Publicity Chair Darlene Wenhold emailed The Press. “The same week, in celebration of Earth and Arbor Day, members deliver these seedlings to the elementary schools.
“They also provide a program on the importance of conservation and tree care, including a demonstration on how to plant tree seedlings, to help instill a love of gardening and care for the environment.
