Coplay: St. Peter, library host event
The social hall at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will be busy May 14. The church will have a chicken or ham dinner 4-7 p.m. Coplay Public Library will have a basket social at the same time.
The public is invited to both events.

Street sweeping by a private contractor ends today, May 12, weather permitting.
Although borough crews post a notice on the streets to be swept ahead of time, police say there are always a few disregarding such notices, thus having their vehicles ticketed.

The Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission meets 7 p.m. May 17 at Whitehall Township Municipal Building.
The commission alternates between Coplay, Whitehall and North Whitehall for monthly meetings, except in the summer beginning in June, where the meeting is held at the trail head in Stiles.

The borough planning commission has scheduled a meeting for 7 p.m. May 24 in borough hall council chambers.
The meeting is open to the public.

More than 100 used tires were dropped off during the borough’s annual tire drop-off event May 7, held at the recently acquired General Supply Company property at the base of Bridge Street.

With Coplay Sports Inc. rebounding with more girls and boys in their softball and baseball programs, visitors will notice the field house and food stand have a fresh look.
The stand’s facade has large colorful lettering saying, “The Den,” and the face of a wildcat gives the exterior a dramatic look.
