Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate a crash Monday afternoon on Cherryville Road, Allen Township, that claimed the life of one driver and seriously injured another.

According to the police report, Debra Jean Stettler, 60, of Whitehall, died at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest about an hour after the 12:12 p.m. accident.

Brianna Patricia Butto, 18, of Walnutport, sustained serious injuries. At press time, she remained at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Butto’s vehicle, police said, was traveling southbound in the area of 3848 Cherryville Road. She crossed a double yellow line and struck Stettler’s vehicle, which was traveling northbound.

Police said it is unclear if either driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Also assisting at the scene were Northern Valley EMS, Northampton Regional EMS and fire/rescue units from Northampton Borough and Allen and Lehigh townships.

Butto and Stettler were transported to the hospital.

Stettler died at 1:29 p.m. from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Lehigh County coroner’s office.
