Earl O. Schlegel, Jr.

Earl O. Schlegel, Jr., 87, of Hereford Township, died April 24, 2016, in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Fern M. (Ruff) Schlegel. They were married for 16 years. His first wife, Pauline M. (Fegely) Schlegel died April 30, 1999. Born in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Earl O., Sr. and Alice (Jewett) Schlegel.

He was a devoted member of Salem Bible Church, Macungie, where he served as a Deacon and a past treasurer.

He was employed as a truck driver for Knoll Inc., East Greenville, for over 40 years, retiring in 1990.

He was avid hunter who also loved to roller skate. He was a member of Campers for Christ and a former member of a local bowling league.

He is survived by his wife, five children, Grant E., husband of Donna E. (Schmoyer), of Hereford Township, Owen E., of Telford, Donna M., wife of Thomas R. Ossman, of Pennsburg, Charlotte M., wife of Joseph T. Zajewski, of Hereford Township, and Faith M., wife of Larry G. Zong, Sr., of Allentown; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Eugene and a great-grandson, Drake D. Pireda.
