Coplay: Borough’s annual tire drop-off set for Saturday

The borough will hold its annual tire drop-off 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Partnering with Lafarge Cement Company, the borough will have public works personnel available to accept the tires at 1 Bridge St., property the borough acquired recently from General Supply Co. This new location is off North Front Street, next to Coplay-Northampton Bridge.

There is a limit of six tires, and proof of borough residency is required.

Tires from cars, SUVs, pick-up trucks and vans will be accepted.

Large truck tires and tires from ATVs, motorcycles and bicycles will not be accepted.

Democrats continue to hold a large voter registration edge over Republicans, as witnessed at the recent primary election polls.

At the second precinct polling place, CFC social hall, Hillary Clinton had 54 votes and Bernie Sanders, 48, in the Democratic race for president.

On the Republican ballot for president, Donald Trump recorded 35 votes, Ted Cruz, 10, and John Kasich, nine.

In the uncontested race for the 133rd Legislative District, Incumbent Daniel McNeill, Democrat, received 103 votes. David Molony, Republican, earned 42 votes.

In another uncontested primary race, U.S. Congressman Charlie Dent recorded 44 Republican votes, while Rick Daugherty, the Democratic candidate, earned 104.
