The days of May are officially here and our township is bursting with activity.

“Falcon Proud Day” is May 4. Wear your falcon attire and show your school pride.

My husband, and biggest kid, would be upset if I did not mention May the Fourth is also Star Wars Day. Yes, I went there. Enjoy the day all you Star Wars fanatics!

Salisbury High School will host a presentation of the heroin and opioid prevention education program 6:30 p.m. May 4. As a community, let’s all come together to keep our families safe.

Third grade students and the chorus at Harry S Truman Elementary School will present a spring concert 2 p.m. May 5. If you have a participating child, please attempt to get to this concert. The kids put a lot of time into these concerts and greatly appreciate all the support.

Students in kindergarten classes at HST will have lunch with family and friends May 9. Lunch will be 11:50 a.m. Look for information to be sent home with your student.

Field day for HST students in third, fourth and fifth grades is scheduled May 10. This event requires many additional parent volunteers. If you offered to volunteer, information should be coming home soon.

The SHS music department will present a spring choral and instrumental concert 7 p.m. May 10.

There will be a district-wide art show at SHS 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 11 featuring art created by students in kindergarten through 12th grade. More information will be sent home soon.

A youth basketball clinic will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 9 in the old gym at SHS. The clinic is open to students from both Western Salisbury and HST elementary schools. There is a cost and any other donations to the clinic are welcome. Rylee Donaldson and Peyton Stauffer, students at SHS and volunteer Salisbury Youth Association coaches, will host the clinic. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Pediatric Cancer wing of Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Fall athletic physicals will be conducted June 1 at SHS. There is a cost. A physical is required for any student participating in athletics, marching band and twirling. Physicals may also be completed by another health care provider.

Last but not least, I’m sure you have heard that our own SHS marching band has been invited to perform at the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla., Jan. 2, 2017. The band will host several fundraisers to defray costs for students.

The Salisbury Music Association will host a bingo event at SMS May 22. Doors will open noon and there is a cost per ticket. Prizes will include designer purses. Hope to see you there.
