Theodore R. Fritzinger
Theodore “Ted” R. Fritzinger, 93, of Allentown, died peacefully April 14, 2016, in his Arizona home.
Born Oct. 17, 1922, he was a son of the late Effie L. Doll and George W. Fritzinger.
He was a loving husband to Jean Neff for 45 years until her death, and thereafter to companion to Elinor Szabo for 15 years until her death.
A 1940 graduate of Allentown High School and a 1948 graduate of Cornell University, he served in the U.S. Army.
In 1948, he founded Plantique, a successful company to this day.
His many accomplishments included serving on the boards of LARC, now VIA, Nurserymen’s Association, now PLNA, state board of landscape architects, Allentown Music Festival, Wildlands Conservancy, Lehigh Valley Audubon, West Allentown Kiwanis and Lehigh County MHMR.
He also was a former member of Salem United Church of Christ.
He enjoyed golfing, birding, wildlife photography and spending time in his second home in southwest Arizona.
His survivors include son Bruce and wife, Pilar; daughters Carol, wife of Dirk Pratley, and Jan; daughter-in-law Lucille; grandchildren Maria, wife of Laith Elias, Alan Fritzinger, Willa Pratley, and Zion Fritzinger; great-grandchildren Bilal and Tamer; and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Glenn, and siblings.
His memorial service will be 10 a.m. April 30 at Keller Funeral Homes Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Interment will be private.
