Churches, library planning various events

The Women in Zion of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, invite all women to attend their second baby shower for residents of Mary’s Shelter.

The shower, with food and games, will take place 9-11 a.m. April 30 at the church.

Bring a small baby gift or gift for the mother to help young moms at the shelter.

Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile will be at Zion’s 3:30-7 p.m. May 3.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be having a community yard sale 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 7.

Everyone is invited to reserve a space or donate items to be sold.

There will also be hot dogs, soda, chips, donuts, coffee and baked goods available for purchase.

They are currently taking pre-orders for shoofly pies, funny cakes and sticky buns without or with nuts or raisins. There are pre-order sign up sheets in the church office and Fellowship Room. All pre-orders must be placed by May 1 or stop that day and pick out your favorite items.

Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Allentown West, Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry Snack Pack program and Wreaths Across America.

Donations of baked goods are needed as well as volunteers to help at the food stand and at the church table.

Ziegels Boy Scout Troop 261 and Cub Scout Pack 61 will be selling Kauffman’s BBQ chicken dinners 4-7 p.m. May 10.

Meal includes half a chicken, baked potato, roll, dessert and drink.

All meals are take out and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering an identity theft workshop presented by Thrivent Financial Associate Curtis Renner AT 1 p.m. April 29.

Knitters of all ages and skill levels are welcome to bring their knitting supplies and swap knitting tips and tricks with the library’s knitting circle from 2-4 p.m. April 28.

Technical Tuesday for seniors is scheduled for 3-4 p.m. May 3.

Learn how to download favorite e-books, e-magazines, e-audiobooks and explore how to hear favorite music through the library’s free Freegal.

Senior book club will meet to discuss the novel “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, 3-4:30 p.m. May 11.
