Wilmer J. Shaffer, BASD bus driver
Wilmer “Willy” J. Shaffer, 72, of Bethlehem, died April 21, 2016, at St. Luke’s VNA Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was a son of the late Emma (Steigerwalt) and Edwin Shaffer. He was the husband of Diane (Weninger) Shaffer for 48 years.
He was in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He worked for Inergsoll Rand, New Jersey, and was retired from B. Braun. He worked part time at Town and Country Bowling and drove a school bus for the Bethlehem Area School District. He lived previously in Maryland,where he worked for Mack Trucks.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter, Deidre and her fiancé Randy Simpson; a granddaughter, Stormy and her husband Roger Patterson; a great-granddaughter, Rowan Patterson; five sisters, Bertha Grube, Betty Kiefer, Nancy Onusko, Mildred Laudenslager and Virginia Balliet; and two brothers, Clayton and Roy Shaffer.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Stanly and Edwin Shaffer.
