Ralph M. Montesano
Ralph M. Montesano, 62, of Macungie, died March 28, 2016, in his residence. He was the husband of Vicki J. (Porterfield) Montesano. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Theresa (Iozzo) Montesano, of Palmyra and the late Frank S. Montesano.
He was the first graduate of the perfusion school of The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was a certified perfusionist for 35 years. He was later employed by the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center before establishing Perfusion Care Associates in 2000.
He was a member and past president of the PA Perfusion Society, member of the American Society of Extracorporeal Perfusion, oral examiner for AMSECT, past president of the PA Playhouse, past president of the Lower Lehigh Lions Club, served on the board of directors for MunOpCo, founding board member of the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem, assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop #71 and a former volunteer fireman for Palmyra Fire Company.
He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as president of church council, member of the choir and youth director.
He is survived by his wife; mother; sons, Dr. John B. Hayward, III and wife Kristen, of Coopersburg, Matthew T. Hayward and companion Grace Golden, of Eugene, Ore. and Marcos T., of the Lehigh Valley; brother, Nick and husband Arnold Teixeira, of Ocean Grove, N.J.; sister, Maria and her husband David Boyer, of Palmyra; grandchildren, Raven, Madelyn, Grayson and Elijah; nieces, Liza and Maggie; nephew, Joe.
