Readers over the past few months may have noticed a lack of regular police reports regarding the city of Bethlehem. This is because the primary source of such by the Press for the past few years has been overnight report templates made publicly available by the Bethlehem Police Department on its blog.

The department stopped posting those reports late last year. Police Chief Mark DiLuzio said the department is undergoing a million-dollar technology upgrade which has necessitated all reports, past and present, be upgraded in what he described as an arduous process.

DiLuzio said the process is more than three-quarters of the way complete, and once finished he looks forward to once again making basic reports available to the public with an even smoother system.

Until then, he groaned, he is getting his morning briefings entirely by readings of dozens of reports in face-to-face meetings in his office.
