N. Whitehall board conditionally OKs two plans
During the March North Whitehall supervisors’ meeting, Township Secretary Brenda Norder announced the township would be advertising for road materials.
The Jarrett Zuber minor subdivision was first on the agenda.
He is proposing to subdivide a lot of approximately 20 acres into two lots.
One lot would have the house and barn on it. The other would be for agricultural purposes.
He was represented by surveyor Bob Hoppes.
The board requested he grant the township additional road right-of-way along Pine Street and show a utility easement line along the rest of the property.
Supervisors gave conditional approval to the plan.
A request for a plan revision for Mary Ann Plaza, Route 873 and Schneck Road, was second on the schedule.
Attorney Erich Schock, along with Mary Ann Wagner, Jim De Pitris and Mike Jeitner represented the plan.
The only change would be in the front of the lot where two uses were proposed for one building.
The applicant wants to reduce the size of the building and have only one use in the structure.
Supervisors agreed with a few conditions added.
Township Manager Jeff Bartlett gave the board the latest request for payment from Livengood Excavating for work done on the Ironton Rail Trail project.
The project was substantially completed as of Feb. 14 with a one-year warranty given by the contractor.
The sum requested was $105,201.40.
Some spots will need attention in the future because of washing due to the recent heavy rains.
The barricades were removed at the eastern end of the trail.
According to Bartlett, there will be a spring cleanup campaign so residents can have their leaves picked up by the township.
This will be a one-day event and nothing but leaves will be collected.
Boy Scouts Karl Schmidt, Jr. and Evan Moffett were present to see how a township government meeting is conducted.
Ron Roth said the township should look into the possibility of requesting a larger turning radius at certain intersections to accommodate large trucks.
He also suggested some type of barriers be installed to keep tractor-trailers from hitting the traffic light poles.
He specifically addressed the Routes 309 and 873 intersection.
Supervisor Steven Pany said the township would look into it but they could not do anything without Penn-DOT’s approval if it is on a state road right-of-way.
