Friends of Parkland Library hosting bus trip to New York City

Friends of the Parkland Community Library is hosting a bus trip to Lower Manhattan 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. May 17.

The group will visit the observation deck of One World Trade Center, have lunch and then explore the 9/11 Memorial Park and Museum.

The bus will depart from Jordan UCC, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall. They will leave New York City at 4:30 p.m.

Deadline to register is April 1.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering toddler story time with stories, songs and games for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers from 10:30-11 a.m. April 1, 6, 7, 8 and 13.

Preschool story time for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers will be 1-1:30 p.m. April 6, 7 and 13.

Technical Tuesday for seniors will be from 3-4 p.m. April 5 at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.

Learn how to download favorite e-books, e-magazines, e-audiobooks and explore how to hear favorite music through the library’s free Freegal.

Kids in second grade and higher are invited to learn how to play quidditch from Muhlenberg’s quidditch team, The Berg Boggarts from 7-8 p.m. April 6.

The Senior Book Club will discuss the novel, “The Secret Chord,” by Geraldine Brooks from 3-4:30 p.m. April 12 at Luther Crest.

The library is offering a basic look at apps at its Plugged into Tech Workshop 9 a.m. on April 13.

Bring a smartphone and learn what apps are, how to download then, and how to use them.

All these events are free and will be held at the library except Technical Tuesday and the Senior Book Club.

Upper Macungie Township will host pick-up basketball from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays March 31 to June 9 for adults ages 21 and over at Jaindl Elementary School, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville.

Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be having game day for individuals of all ages from 1-4 p.m. April 10.

Bring your own drinks, snacks to share and your favorite board game.

Ziegels will be hosting its annual tea luncheon and quilt show April 23.

The luncheon will be 12:30-2 p.m. with the quilt exhibit open from 2-4 p.m.

The guest speaker during the luncheon will be Becky Shorts

Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, Seeders and Sow On group is sponsoring a bus trip to Longwood Gardens April 20.

The bus will depart the church parking lot at 9 a.m. They will leave Longwood Garden at 3:30 p.m.

Bring a bag lunch or eat in Longwood’s cafeteria.
