Calypso ES: Reading Fair a success

The Calypso Readers Are Leaders Reading Fair was held March 2 in conjunction with Read Across America and Dr. Seuss celebrations. The primary purpose of the Reading Fair is to provide students in grades Pre-K- 5 the opportunity to share their favorite book through a storyboard trifold display; and at the same time exemplify their leadership qualities. The BAEF provided the original funding for this event through a Teacher Innovation Grant proposal in 2014-2015.

Overwhelming enthusiasm from students, teachers and families has prompted it to become an annual event supported now by Title I funds. A representative from the Bethlehem Area Public Library was on hand at this year’s evening event to promote literacy, as well as offer crafts and opportunities for photo-ops with the Cat in the Hat.
