Leonard R. Bogert Sr.

Leonard R. Bogert Sr., 80, of New Smithville, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at home.

The husband of the Rev. Dr. Elaine Fenstermacher Bogert, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in August.

Born in Brookdale, he was a son of the late Harold L. and Gertie B. (Yarnell) Bogert.

A tin smith for Jack Lehr Electric for 19 years before retiring, he previously worked for Donmoyer Electric, Acker Roofing Company and Royal Manufacturing.

A member of St. Paul’s UCC, Sieberlingsville, he also was a member of Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society.

He and his wife were well known for their charity sales at their homestead for more than 30 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Leonard R. Jr. and Karen Weiss; daughters Cathy, wife of Glen Briscoe, Eileen, wife of Steven Marshall, Dr. Patty, wife of Kevin Ward; brothers Ronald and Richard; sisters Beatie Lilly and Delores Trexler; and grandchildren Abby, Jessie and John Jr.

His memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday April 2 at Zion Lehigh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis. A calling hour will begin at 2 p.m. in the church.

A donation in his memory may be made to Elaine Bogert Scholarship at Moravian Seminary, 1200 Main St., Bethlehem, PA 18018-9980.
