Doris Watkins, 93, a longtime resident of Whitehall, and a guest at Country Meadows, Allentown, died peacefully March 3, 2016, in Cedarbrook.
Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel (Gover) Treweek.
She and her husband Robert J. Watkins were married 67 years at the time of his death on Aug. 19, 2011.
She was a dedicated member of St. John’s UCC, Fullerton, where she sang with the Chancel and Gospel choirs, and was a member of the former Ladies Aide Society.
A volunteer at Phoebe Home, she was a member of the auxiliary and also enjoyed volunteering at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
A 1940 graduate of Nesquehoning High School, she was a claims processor for Capital Blue Cross, Allentown, for more than 18 years before retiring in 1984.
Previously, she worked in admissions at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Her survivors include a son Robert “Larry” and his wife, Linda, of Slatington; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Herbert Treweek of Florida.
She was predeceased by her son James C., in 2007, sister Jane Cramer and brother Robert Treweek.
