Claire E. Hontz Stahley, 93, formerly of Orefield, died March 16, 2016, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
She was the wife of the late Nelson G. Stahley and John H. Hontz.
Born Feb. 5, 1923, in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Sarah E. (Umstead) Nase.
A registered nurse, she was a staff member in the practice of Dr. Henry Lehrig, Allentown, before retiring.
She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall.
An avid swimmer, she learned to swim at Saylor’s Lake and later competed and won numerous medals in local master’s swim meets.
She also loved dachshunds and traveling.
Her survivors include a daughter, Karen C. Hontz of Alexandria, Va.; son Douglas J. Hontz of Manning, S.C.; brother Harold L. Nase of Harleysville; granddaughters Jessica Hontz Friday of Orefield, Megan Hontz Starling of Kenly, N.C.; great-grandchildren John D. and Eric D. Friday, and Harper S. Starling.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. March 25, at Jordan UCC, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m, Friday in the church parlor.
Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery.
