Stephen Raymond Derbenwick , Air Products

Stephen Raymond Derbenwick, 72, died March 11, 2016, at home after a nearly five-year battle with mantle cell lymphoma. Born in Martinez, Calif., he was a son of the late Vantries (Peake) and Frank Derbenwick. He was the husband of Rebecca Jane Derbenwick.

He graduated from Greenwich High School, Conn., at the top of his class. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University; and then earned a PhD in physics from Cornell University.

He taught in the physics department at Moravian College. He worked for 30 years for Air Products and Chemicals, where he developed computer systems for a various projects.

He attended First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Laura Bruno and David Gleysteen of Goshen, Ind. and Erica Cappellini of Allentown; a son, Craig and Adin Bookbinder of Evanston, Ill.; two grandsons, Owen and Anthony Cappellini; three brothers, Gary of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Leland of Westford, Mass.

Contributions may be made to the church or to an education fund for Owen and Anthony Cappellini, c/o Erica Cappellini.
