Joan I. Smalley, 84, died March 7, 2016, in Gracedale. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Esther (Stein) Bond. She was the wife of Herbert R. Smalley for 65 years.

She was a crossing guard for the Bethlehem Area School District until she retired. She worked previously at King’s Department Store, Allentown.

She was a member of Christ Church -U.C.C., Bethlehem.

In addition to her husband,she is survived by a son, Bert and his wife Georgine of Nazareth; a daughter, Debbie and husband Tim Kocher of Bath; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
