August L. Chicchi, 90, of Hellertown, died Feb. 28, 2016. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Madeline Chicchi. He was the husband of the late Mary Zaun.

He attended Bethlehem schools.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

He worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation until he retired in 1989.

He was a parishioner and altar server at Our Lady of Pompeii of the Most Holy Rosary. More recently, he was a parishioner of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Hellertown.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon and her husband Philip Mancuso and Linda and her husband George Collins; six grandchildren, Marlaina and Angela Mancuso, James Collins, Major Michael Collins, Erin and her husband Colonel John Delaney and Kelly and her husband Major Jeffrey Bernard; five great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Contributions may be made to the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown, PA 18055; the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Road, Easton, PA 18042; or an animal sanctuary of one’s choice.
