Western Salisbury PTA to host purse bingo March 13
Western Salisbury Elementary PTA will host its third annual purse bingo. Handbags from Coach, Kate Spade, Thirty-One, Vera Bradley and more will be given as prizes. This event will be held 1 to 4 p.m. March 13 at Salisbury Middle School with the doors opening noon. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Also at WSE, parents of second graders are invited to lunch March 8. Second grade lunch begins 11:25 a.m. and it is always a good idea to be a little early.
Salisbury Middle School is having a Phantoms Night. Game time is 7:05 p.m. March 23 versus the Hershey Bears at the PPL Center. The Salisbury Middle School jazz band will perform in the lobby as people walk in and the school chorus will sing the national anthem. Artwork by SMS students will also be exhibited at the arena. Come join the fun.
No plans for the weekend? Come out and see the Salisbury High School Theatre presentation of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Performances will be 7 p.m. March 3 to 5 and 3 p.m. March 6 in the high school auditorium. Also at the high school, a college information night will be held 6:30 p.m. March 8. This is very informative, especially for juniors. I went last year and there were representatives from at least six local colleges giving information about applying for college, tuition and anything else you might have questions about. I highly recommend it.
There is an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. March 7 in the administration building.
Salisbury Township schools will be closed March 11 for a teacher professional development day.
The next visioning work session will be held 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 16 at the administration building. Let your voice and ideas be heard.

If you like to plan ahead, the 2016-2017 Salisbury Township School District calendar is on the school website. Orientation day for students attending kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades is Aug. 29. All students report Aug. 30.
The Devonshire drop-off center is ready to reopen for all your spring yard work needs. Opening day is March 19. Just like last year, the hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month.
The Ladies Aid Society of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host an indoor yard sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 5. There will also be ham and cheese sandwiches and homemade baked goods for sale.
