Raymond R. Bortz, Jr., of Coopersburg, died Feb. 28, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Dolores E. (Geist) Bortz, for the past 62 years. Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Raymond R. and Elva A. (Godshall) Bortz.
He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Allentown and Phillipsburg for 37 years, retiring as a cost analyst supervisor in 1992.
He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War with the military police.
He played professional baseball with the Braves minor leagues and later coached baseball at various levels for 25 years.
He graduated from Coopersburg High School in 1947 and attended Allentown Business School.
He was a life member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Coopersburg.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kathryn L. and her husband Gary Cacciatore, Susan A., Diane D. and Carol A. Bortz Hoats; brother, James and his wife Joan; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jena Cacciatore; nephews and their families and special family members, Joyce and Christopher Cerniglia. He was predeceased by a brother Paul and a sister Alice Trautman.

Services will be held 11 a.m. March 4 at St. John’s U.C.C., 538 E. Thomas St., Coopersburg, 18036. A viewing will be held 10 to 11 a.m. March 4 at the church.
