WTPL: Adult winter reading program underway
Our adult winter reading program has started, and we invite all patrons who are 18 and older to sign up and join the fun! It will run until March 19 with the wrap-up party 1-2 p.m. or 6-7 p.m. March 22.
Our theme this year is “Read ’N’ Feed!” We’ll have a suggested reading list ready for you to pick up when you register.
This year, any participant who reads and logs one or more books may submit up to five recipes per book logged. Each recipe must be typed or printed clearly because we will be using your recipes to create a library cookbook in the spring.
Any recipe, from cookies to barbecued ribs and salads to desserts, will be accepted.

Join us for our third Monday open mic and jam night 6:30 p.m. March 21. Our musical guests will be James Supra and Wayne Johnston, and Rocking the Valley Internet Radio will broadcast live from the library!
Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up just before 6:30 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers and storytellers are invited to show off their stuff.
We welcome individuals to just be part of the audience as well.

Whitehall High School London Club will host a reading event for all ages during family story time 7 p.m. March 30. They will read several children’s books selected by their club members, and topics will relate to travel and vacations.
Come in and start thinking about summer vacations!
This is a free program, and you do not need to register.

Coming up in April, we will have an Introduction to Microsoft Word 11 a.m. April 2; Introduction to Zinio eMagazines 11 a.m. April 9; Introduction to Ancestry.com 6 p.m. April 14; and How to Sell on eBay 6 p.m. April 21.
Also in April, join us for kite-making fun from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16. This year’s One Book Every Child selection is “Kite Day: A Bear and Mole Story.” Come to the library to learn how to make a kite. Clifford the Big Red Dog will join us for some stories, too!
Additionally, as you begin your spring cleaning, think about the library’s indoor yard sale April 28 and 29 during library hours. We will start accepting gently used items after March 12 during regular library hours. No large items, furniture or electronic items will be accepted.

As a reminder, the library will continue to collect nonperishable items for Whitehall Food Pantry throughout the year. The food pantry is looking for canned or boxed food (such as soup, coffee, tuna, Hamburger Helper and cereal), canned pet food and paper products (such as paper towels, toilet paper and tissues).
Items may be dropped off during regular library hours. Monetary or gift card donations can be mailed and payable to Whitehall Food Pantry at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, c/o Whitehall Food Pantry, 3900 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, 18052.
