Charles T. Noonan, 91, died Feb. 27, 2016, in Allentown.
Born in Ashland, Ky., he was a son of the late Arthur and Tina (Beam) Noonan.
He and his wife, Constance, were married 70 years.
After attending public schools in Ashland, he studied at arvard College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and attended Harvard Law School.
In 1949, he came to Allentown to practice law. He would say life and law are synonymous.
His private practice was with some of his children, a grandchild and Michael Prokup as Noonan and Prokup, originally Donecker and Noonan.
He was a director of the former Merchants National Bank, Allentown, and served numerous charitable organizations in Lehigh County, including the Junior Chamber of Commerce, receiving its Distinguished Service Award, the East Penn School District, as a member of the board for six years, serving as treasurer for one of those years and president for another, and Cedar Crest College, as an associate, trustee, then chairman; and 2004 Associates Award winner with his wife.
In addition to a lifetime love of education and the arts, he enjoyed skiing, tennis, water skiing, music and reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Thomas and wife Linda, Susan, Karl, Jim and Todd and wife Louisa Esser; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his brother Roger and wife Jenny Lou.
