George W. Carvis Jr., 82, formerly of Bethlehem, died Feb. 21, 2016, at Hammond House Assisted Living, Hollywood, Fla. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George Sr. and Rose (Samu) Carvis. He was the husband of the late Ann E. Carvis for 52 years.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Moravian College and a master’s degree from Lehigh University.
He was in the U. S. Army.
He taught in the Bethlehem School District for 31 years until he retired in 1993. He and his wife owned the Crystal Jade restaurant.
He was a member of Christ Church U.C.C., Bethlehem.
He was a church, community and St. Luke’s Hospital volunteer.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan and her husband Rick Anderson of Hollywood, Fla.; a son, George W. III and his wife Brenda of Hellertown; a sister, Carmella Pheiff of Bethlehem; and four grandsons, Alex, Nick, Andrew and Christian.
He was predeceased by a brother.
