Whitehall Township Public Library: Adult coloring club meets 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 23

The library will have an adult coloring club meeting the fourth Tuesday of every month. The next coloring event will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 23.

This club is for all adults who are 18 and older. The library has some supplies but invites patrons to bring their own supplies as well. Stores like 5-Below and A.C. Moore have basic supplies at a good price. We will be using colored pencils, markers and crayons.

Adult coloring books have become very popular the past few years. According to American Library Association, research shows coloring de-stresses and lessens anxiety in adults and is beneficial to brain damage and dementia in adults.

The club will meet Feb. 23, March 22, April 26 and May 24.

Our adult winter reading program has started, and we invite all patrons who are 18 and older to sign up and join the fun! It will run until March 19 with the wrap-up party 1-2 p.m. or 6-7 p.m. March 22.

Our theme this year is “Read ’N’ Feed!” We’ll have a suggested reading list ready for you to pick up when you register.

This year, any participant who reads and logs one or more books may submit up to five recipes per book logged. Each recipe must be typed or printed clearly because we will be using your recipes to create a Whitehall Township Public Library cookbook in the spring.

Any recipe, from cookies to barbecued ribs and salads to desserts, will be accepted.

The library recently digitized the Whitehall High School yearbooks from 1922 to 2014. We are able to provide copies on DVDs, which can be displayed on a computer.

To receive a copy of your requested year(s), complete an order form (available at the front desk or on our website) and provide payment to Whitehall Township Public Library, 3700 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, 18052. Cost of a yearbook will be $8 if picked up at the library and $10 if mailed to your address.

Cash and check are the only payments accepted. Please make checks payable to WTPL.

These will make excellent gifts for alumni of Whitehall High School.

We will call you when your copy is ready.

Items may be dropped off during regular library hours. Monetary or gift card donations can be mailed and payable to Whitehall Food Pantry at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, c/o Whitehall Food Pantry, 3900 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, 18052.
