Upper Macungie Township police say a 17-year-old Fogelsville girl, was driving a 2013 Subaru Legacy at Route 100 and Tilghman Street at 11:27 a.m. Feb. 12 when her car was hit by a 1998 Peterbilt 379 tractor driven by Earle F. Brown, 77, of Wapwallopen.
According to police, the car was southbound on Route 100 in the left turn lane and was attempting to make a left turn on Tilghman Street eastbound. The tractor was northbound in the right lane of Route 100 when they collided.
According to several third party witnesses, both vehicles were facing green lights that changed to yellow as they entered the intersection.
The witnesses stated the car turned left in front of the tractor, causing a collsion, police say.
The tractor struck the right front corner of the car, pushing it back into the northbound lanes of Route 100.
Both the driver and a 16-year-old male passenger from Fogelsville in the car, who were wearing their seat belts, were transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for non-life-threatening injuries.
Brown, who was also wearing his seat belt, was uninjured, police say.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The teen was charged with a traffic violation, police say.
