Sister M. Aurelia, 81, of the School Sisters of St. Francis, U.S. Province, died Feb. 12, 2016, in St. Clare Hospital, Denville, N.J. She was the daughter of the late John and Anna Julia (Balaga) Cerny.

She professed her first vows in 1954 at Mount Assisi Convent Chapel, Pittsburgh She attended Mount Mercy College (Carlow University) and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. She earned a bachelor’s degree in general science for secondary school. She earned a master of arts degree with an administration major and a secondary education minor.

She taught primary and middle grades in Bethlehem, Emmaus and Northampton. She was a school principal in Emmaus and in other places.

She is survived by her religious community; a sister, Margaret Skladany; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Francis.
