State police investigate residential burglaries

According to information received from the Neighborhood Voter Network, a trooper from State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, called one of the network’s members about the recent rash of burglaries in Albany and Lynn townships.

He advised two men driving a tan or champagne-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee are suspected of being involved.

They operate during the day and appear to be looking primarily for jewelry, cash and coins.

The houses they target seem to be random. They knock on the door, and if no one answers, they break in.

Sometimes they park in the driveway; other times they park away from the targeted house.

He said the best chance of catching the men is an informed citizenry. A photo or license plate number would be helpful.

If anything suspicious is seen, call 911 or State Police Troop L, Hamburg, which covers Albany Township, at 610-562-6885, or State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, which covers Lynn Township, at 610-395-1438.

State Trooper David Beohm, public information officer with State Police Troop L, the first home in the 200 block of Pine Creek Road, Albany Township, was broken into possibly between 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 by two young men.

Police say about $1,200 in currency and $100 in coins were stolen along with eight, 1-ounce silver rounds.

According to police, a witness saw two white men in their early 20s walking on Pine Creek Road, and a tan Jeep Cherokee parked nearby, around the time of the burglary.

Boehm says a second home at 1117A Hawk Mountain Road, Albany Township, was burglarized sometime between 10:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

Entry into the home was gained when a rear living room window was broken.

Once inside, the men removed a pillow case before going through drawers removing jewelry and coins.

They then went into the attached home at 1117B Hawk Mountain Road and took a black backpack, which was used to remove jewelry.

Police say this burglary may be related to other burglaries in the area, including incidents in Lehigh County.

Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to contact Trooper Cutshaw, Troop L, Hamburg, at 610-562-6885.
