Irene Somishka

Irene Somishka died Dec. 27, 2015, at the Brookdale Memory Care Facility, Peoria, Ariz., after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was married to the late William Somishka who died April 24, 2003. Born in Norwich, England, she was a daughter of James and Clara Browne.

They lived in Eastern Pennsylvania for 27 years where they raised their four children. She was employed for many years at Rodale Press in Emmaus, until she and her husband moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. in 1980.

She worked for Springberg, volunteered for the American Red Cross and start up for Running Bear Mortgage.

In 2004 she moved to Sun City West where she became a member of Advent Episcopal Church and volunteered at Helping Hands. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to knit. She loved to dance and was always taking on new hobbies and projects to stay busy and loved to help others.

She is survived by a daughter, Julie and her husband Bruce; sons, Matthew and his wife Shelly, Stephen; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn; son, Philip.
