A school bus and a charter-style passenger bus collided in Lower Macungie Township after the driver of the school bus failed to stop at a red traffic light.
Three passengers sustained minor injuries in the accident.
According to State Police at Fogelsville, Patti A. Hoffman, 58, of Schnecksville, was driving a school bus at the intersection of the Route 222 bypass and Kressler Road at approximately 3:09 p.m. Jan. 27. Hoffman was southbound on Route 222 approaching a red traffic at Kressler Road. A bus driven by Brian R. Hess, 59, of Pennsburg, was traveling west on Kessler Road at Route 22 and making a left turn onto Route 222 to go south. Police said the Hoffman failed to stop for a red raffic light at Kressler Road and struck Unite 2.
Hoffman and an adult passenger, Joseph M. Leach, 38, of Quakertown, were not injured. According to police, three 12-year-old girls who were on the bus sustained minor injuries and 16 other passengers, ranging in age from 11 to 16 years old, were not injured. Hess and his passengers Blanca G. Gonzalez-Perez, 83, of Reading, and Megan R. Opalinski, 36, of Reading, were not injured.
Both busses were able to be driven from the scene.
Macungie EMS assisted at the scene.
